Flag ceremony, picnic and dance

Flag Ceremony

Our camp bugler plays “To the Colors” as our American flag is lowered. Camp Batawagama provides an opportunity to participate in the weekly flag lowering ceremony. It is a time to reflect on the history of the American flag and a time to renew a feeling of pride and patriotism for our country.

Following the flag ceremony the cabins horse in goggle for a place in line at the weekly picnic supper.

Dance Night

The Batawagama dance night follows the picnic supper. Dance night has been a tradition at Batawagama since 1945. The staff and campers come together for a fun and instructive evening of folk dancing. Campers learn folk dances from around the world and learn to dance the waltz and popular American square dances. This evening is as unique, as the staff and campers participating. Each dance night features its own special mini concert, performed by our very talented staff members and campers. The evening would not be complete without the “Singing Newspaper” events of the week told in a most unusual way.
